MeeGo Harmattan (MAEMO 6)

The source code for many components of Harmattan release have been released yesterday at gitorious. That is great if one is interested in digging through the code or compiling it. For those who just want a quick test drive there is demo available for N900. It is actually rather simple:

Exclusive Leaked Screenshot Of Nokia’s Maemo Harmattan

After we broke the news this morning that Nokia was cracking away at a phone-friendly and potentially ad-supported version of their Internet tablet OS, Maemo, we figured we might be able to swing a screenshot.

Sure enough, our boy Sirm came through. With that, we present the world’s first ever look at the mobile OS Nokia tentatively plans on launching around the end of 2010: Maemo Harmattan.

As we mentioned in the earlier post, the Maemo Harmattan homescreen is essentially one big vertically scrollable page, filled from top-to-bottom with user selectable widgets. All of the widgets are deeply integrated with each other and the rest of the OS.

If you look closely, you’ll notice that only the top third or so of the image below has the blue background color. This is representative of the area visible on screen at one time. The background remains static, while the widgets float above it as the user slides them across the screen. Nokia’s obviously designing this interface for a widescreen display – but given the current trend of nearly every touchscreen being wide, that makes perfect sense.

Curiously, the ad widgets we disclosed earlier today are absent from this screenshot. Be it that Nokia moves forward with the ad widget concept and carriers embrace it (remember: the idea is that in exchange for ads on the homescreen, customers get a discount of some sort), ad-enabled handsets will have ad units locked in place between widgets.

We’ve run this screenshot past a few Nokians for authentication; while none were willing to outright verify it, they all said it looked perfectly legitimate to them. (Yeah – we noticed the “Tounament” typo in the calendar widget. We’ve got plenty of typos in our own calendar, so we’re not doubting it because of that.) Of course, Maemo Harmattan isn’t coming out until Q4 2010 at the earliest, so things might change. If it does, we’ll try to keep the screenshots flowing.

d'après cette article ca veut dire que maemo 6 va pouvoir être installé sur nos N900?

Nokia se base sur (normalement) Maemo 6 Harmattan pour Meego. On parle plus d'interface ici.

Merci pour l'info, c'est toujours sympa d'imaginer une nouvelle version de maemo en mieux bien sûr, que ça tourne ou pas sur le N900, on vera.

Pour le test du lien que tu demandes Maemo5, moi ca me fait : Impossible de télécharger 'dui-demos-widgetsgallery' Paquetage d'applications introuvable. Après avoir correctement ajouté un catalogue.

J'avais plus mon N900, j'avais pas moyen de vérifier . J'ai vérifié ce fichier a bien existé :

Vu qu'il n'est plus disponible je vais supprimer le lien.

Je ne sais pas si il y a un moyen de récupérer ce fichier histoire de voir.

J'ai du nouveau concernant le fameux fichier. Un fichier MeeGo démo de Nokia s'appellant Widget Gallery - demo application MeeGo Touch






Encore une fois je n'ai pas mon N900 il est en réparation. Cependant ces screenshots on été fait aujourd'hui (j'ai demandé à un autre utilisateur !). L'application est donc normalement encore disponible dans le catalogue extra-devel.


J'attends vos retour n'ayant pas mon N900 sous la main...

j'essaie de prendre les deux fichiers que tu indique car ils y sont mais impossible de les installer.
Il me dis Impossible d'installer "widgets gallery" conflit entre paquetages d'application et c'est du genre libqt4-maemo5-core(<4.6.99)
et pour lasgo il met échec du téléchargement.

Voilà, j'espère que ça te servira.

Pour moi ça a marché nickel, j'ai installé ça hier soir, mais bon le mieux c'est d'aller sur ce lien (à mon avis), et vous aurez quelques photos représentatives, car on ne peux rien faire mis à part avoir un tout petit avant-goût de ce que sera meego.

J'ai donné ce lien au tout début ^^.

En gros tu peux faire quoi avec cette appli ?

Au moins l'application est encore là, pas comme l'autre fois.

En gros tu peux rien faire du tout tu as un gros menu qui te montres comment seront les boutons images slide et plein de trucs que resume tres tres bien ton lien avec images c est pour ca que je l ai redonne
Desole pour explication un peu pourrie je sais pas comment expliquer...
En tout cas la wifi de mcdo marche nickel avec mon N900 la seule chose de bien avec cette firme
